Students at a few South County schools will see some staffing changes when they start classes in the fall.
Lucia Mar Superintendent Jim Hogeboom announced this week that three principals at local schools will move to other sites within the district, leaving one elementary principal job to be filled.
Dana Elementary School Principal Paul Jarvis will move to Mesa Middle School, and Jeff Martin, who is in his 10th year at the middle school, four of those as principal, will lead Grover Heights Elementary.
Grover Heights Principal Jennifer Bowen has decided to return to teaching, Hogeboom said. The Dana Elementary slot will be filled by Branch Elementary Principal Stacey Russell — leaving the Branch principal job open for the moment.

Russell could not be reached for comment Friday.
Jarvis, who has led Dana Elementary for more than six years and previously served as Arroyo Grande High’s assistant principal, said the move to a middle school is attractive.
He said he is also disappointed that only two-thirds of Dana teachers voted for a new teacher evaluation and training program, known as TAP — fewer than the 75 percent needed to start it.
The program will be implemented at seven other schools, including Mesa Middle School and Grover Heights Elementary.
Martin said he’s looking forward to putting TAP in place to strengthen teachers’ abilities and “take student achievement to new heights.”
“The staff has a great reputation of being experienced and dynamic,” he said. “I’m hoping to bring my own energy and passion for continuous improvement.”
In his time at Mesa, Martin said he’s worked to strengthen intervention periods for students, increased enrichment opportunities for others, and focused on improving the achievements of the school’s English-language learners.
Jarvis, meanwhile, said he was proud of several accomplishments: updating the school’s technology; designating time during the school day for students to receive extra help from intervention teachers; increasing the school’s English-language learners’ proficiency in English and language arts; and pulling the school out of program improvement, a probationlike status under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
