Two San Luis Obispo County residents were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and taken to local hospitals with major injuries early this morning after they were involved in a head-on collision, according to the CHP.
The crash happened at 2:55 a.m. on Price Canyon Road, east of Lemoore Street, outside Pismo Beach city limits.
According to a CHP news release, Eileen Marquez, 26, of Grover Beach was heading west in a 2004 Acura on Price Canyon Road at an unknown speed. Ghassin Aro, 38, of San Luis Obispo was driving a 2006 BMW east, also at an unknown speed.
The crash happened when Marquez veered into the eastbound lane, directly in front of Aro’s vehicle, CHP said.
Never miss a local story.
Marquez was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center; Aro was taken to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital.
Officer J.W. Townsen, a CHP spokesman, said both had major injures “but as far as we know they’re not life-threatening.”
He said Marquez was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, and Aro was arrested on suspicion of a misdemeanor DUI. Neither is in custody because they are still receiving care at the hospitals, he said.
Officers are looking for anyone who may have been a witness to the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer R. Maclean at 593-3313.
