A San Luis Obispo home was severely damaged after a fire broke out Sunday evening.
A woman living in a downstairs, rear unit at 1360 Peach St. heard her parents' dog barking in the upstairs unit at 7:30 p.m., according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo City Fire Department. Her parents were not home at the time.
When she went up the exteriors stairs, she saw smoke coming from the windows, according to the news release. She opened the door and saw heavy fire and smoke. The dog was let out and she called 911.
The dog appeared to be uninjured, according to firefighters.

The fire was quickly controlled, but the contents of the apartment were severely damaged, according to firefighters. Total damage is estimated to be $150,000.
Neither the downstairs unit nor the front unit on the property were damaged.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
