The National Weather Service has issued a small-craft advisory for the waters off the Central Coast effective through 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The advisory covers the waters west of Point Piedras Blancas north of San Simeon to Point Arguello in northern Santa Barbara County.
Forecasters expect that northwest winds will increase to 15 knots to 25 knots, with gusts to 30 knots, tonight.
Seas are expected to increase to 5 feet to 6 feet, with a dominant period of 9 seconds.
A small-craft advisory means that wind speeds of 21 knots to 33 knots are expected to cause waves hazardous to small craft.
The agency cautions that inexperienced boaters, especially those in smaller vessels, should avoid the waters.
