UPDATE 3:10 p.m. The Paso Robles Police Department released more details Tuesday on the two armed robberies that occurred Sunday and Monday on the city’s west side.
From witness descriptions, it appears that two different men committed the robberies. Police are investigating whether the robberies are related to each other or to the recent robberies at a Shell gas station in Atascadero.
The first robbery happened at approximately 10:45 p.m. Sunday at a Domino’s Pizza in the 2100 block of Spring Street. A man entered the store with what police said appeared to be a handgun in his right hand.
The man demanded money from the employees and fled on foot with an undisclosed sum. No injuries were reported.
Police have a photo of the man from the restaurant’s video surveillance system.
He is described as a male adult with a dark complexion and a thin build and approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall.
He was last seen wearing a blue-and-white long-sleeve jacket, a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and shoes. He also had a dark-colored mask or shirt over his face and was wearing dark-colored gloves.
The second armed robbery occurred about 24 hours later on Monday night at DK’s Donuts in the 1700 block of Spring Street.
A man demanded money from a shop employee, hit the employee with a handgun, and fled on foot with an undisclosed sum, according to police. The employee did not need medical attention, police said.
That robber is described as a male adult with a light complexion, a thin build and approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall. He was last seen wearing dark-colored pants, a dark-colored shirt, a black scarf with green stripes and dark-colored gloves.
Officers and a police dog searched the areas after both robberies but were unable to find the robbers.
Paso Robles police investigators are working with the Atascadero Police Department to see if the two cities’ robberies are related.
Anyone with information on these crimes is encouraged to call the Paso Robles Police Department’s investigations bureau at 237-6464. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP or text-message information to SLOTIPS (274637).
Original story: Paso Robles police are investigating the robberies of a pair of businesses that occurred over the last two nights and which might be related.
The first, on Sunday night, was at Domino’s Pizza in the 2100 block of Spring St. The second occurred late Monday night at DK Donuts, in the 1700 block of Spring St.
In the robberies, a man pulled out a gun and demanded cash from the shop employee before getting away, said Lt. Ty Lewis.
He said detectives are working off “the premise that it might be the same person, or two people.”
Lewis expects to issue a news release by midday with updated information from detectives.
