Flooding damaged the Ralphs grocery store in Los Osos early Sunday, though the market said it was open for business by late morning.
County/Cal Fire said that the market’s firefighting sprinkler system went off accidentally at 1:18 a.m., flooding the building with 700 gallons of water.
It caused damage to the ceiling and to some products in the store off of Los Osos Valley Road and South Bay Boulevard, according to Cal Fire.
Firefighters shut the water off and helped clean water out of the store, Cal Fire said.
The agency had not expected the store to be open for business today because of the damage.
