The record-breaking heat that baked San Luis Obispo County today will relent somewhat Friday, but not much.
San Luis Obispo’s official high temperature today, taken at Cal Poly, was 88, breaking the record for the date of 81 set in 2003, the National Weather Service said.
Local forecaster John Lindsey reported highs of 95 at Islay Hill in San Luis Obispo, the low 90s in Avila Beach, 89 in Pismo Beach, 88 in Morro Bay and 87 in Baywood Park. Paso Robles reached 85.
Friday’s high in San Luis Obispo should be 82, with light winds.
A major change occurs Saturday, when a storm front comes down the coast and brings much cooler temperatures and even a chance of light rain that afternoon and evening.
