UPDATE: The man killed in the crash has been identified by county coroners as Richard Arril Knabb, 41, of Atascadero. Preliminary results from an autopsy done today showed he died from blunt-force trauma, Sheriff's Department officials said. Tests are pending to see if he had any alcohol or drugs in his body at the time of the crash.
ORIGINAL POST: A 40-year-old Atascadero man was killed in a motorcycle crash at 11 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Atascadero Police Department.
The man – who is not being identified pending notification of his next of kin – was killed in a wreck in the 7400 block of Portola Road.
He lost control of his Kawasaki sports motorcycle and was thrown off, said Gregg Meyer, the department’s investigation sergeant. Nobody else was involved in the crash.
A toxicology report is pending and the sheriff’s coroner was called to the scene. The investigation is ongoing, Meyer said.
