A 27-year-old San Miguel man was arrested this morning on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after he caused a chain-reaction accident that pushed a car into a home in San Miguel, the CHP said.
Barclay A. Barrett was arrested after he was treated for minor cuts and complaints of pain. He was booked into County Jail for the alleged DUI.
According to the CHP, Barrett was headed north on Bonita Street shortly after 1 a.m. today. He was following a car driven by 27-year-old Ashley M. Beachkofski. For an unknown reason, she stopped in the roadway, and Barrett drove into the back of her 2003 Ford Focus.
Her car then rammed into an unoccupied home at 695 Benedict St., the CHP said.
Barrett was driving a 2004 Volvo S60.
The CHP news release did not detail the extent of damage to the home.
