A Paso Robles man died Sunday night after crashing his car on Highway 101 north of the city.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., Javier Cortez, 47, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo south near the San Marcos Creek bridge when the car drifted onto the right shoulder, according to the CHP. He was driving 65 to 70 mph at the time.
The car continued down a descending dirt embankment and rolled multiple times, according to the CHP.
Cortez was not wearing his seat belt, according to the CHP, and was ejected from the car. He died at the scene.

Toxicology reports are pending. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
