A collision involving two tractor-trailer trucks is blocking traffic tonight on westbound Highway 46 East in Paso Robles.
The collision was reported at 4:35 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 46 East and Buena Vista Drive, said Sgt. Clint Wenter of the Paso Robles Police Department.
According to Wenter, a tractor-trailer truck had stopped at the light behind a pickup truck when it was struck from behind by a second tractor-trailer truck.
The first truck’s semi-trailer sheared off, Wenter said, slamming into the second vehicle.
“Both are pretty much disabled and dead in the water,” he said of the two vehicles.
The driver of the second tractor-trailer truck, Daniel Lopez of King City, and the pickup’s driver, Jorge Perez of Paso Robles, were treated for minor injuries at Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton and released, Wenter said.
Santos Cruz of Salinas, who drove the first tractor-trailer truck, was not injured.
Wenter said the first and second lanes of Highway 46 East will likely be blocked until midnight. He advises drivers to find an alternate route through Paso Robles using Golden Hill Road or Indian Valley Road.
