Two upcoming fundraisers are scheduled to benefit county sheriff candidate Ian Parkinson: one on Friday at the Ventana Grill in Pismo Beach, the second on Sept. 25 at the Dino Boneso Family Vineyards in Paso Robles.
Friday’s fundraiser starts at 6 p.m. and also features a live auction. Tickets are $125 each.
The Sept. 25 fundraiser costs $25 and includes dinner, drinks and a chance to win prizes. It starts at 5 p.m. at 5040 Mill Road.

Assembly candidate Hilda Zacarias on Monday opened a campaign headquarters in San Luis Obispo.The candidate’s headquarters is at 1404 Broad St., at the intersection with Pismo Street. The phone number is 439-0770, and the office will remain open from noon to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
Zacarias, a Democrat and an accountant, is on the Santa Maria City Council. She is running for the 33rd District Assembly seat vacated by Sam Blakeslee, who resigned to become a state Senator.
Zacarias is running against Republican Katcho Achadjian, who is on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors, and Libertarian Paul Polson.
In opening her office Monday, Zacarias urged “everyone to stop by and take the time to talk with me about the important issues facing our state. This is an opportunity to get to know me and to share your thoughts.”
