A $133 million lottery jackpot is more than the stuff of daydreams for one customer of a Morro Bay liquor store.
Bottle Liquor and Deli at 999 Main St. in Morro Bay sold the winning Mega Millions lottery ticket, the only jackpot winner in Friday’s 41-state drawing, according to the California Lottery.
The winning numbers: 4-10-26-32-41 and Mega 31.
The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot, according to the lottery: 1 in 176 million. It’s the largest lottery win ever for San Luis Obispo County and one of the largest in California history, lottery spokesman Alex Traverso said.
In May, a Southern California woman won a $266 million Mega Millions jackpot, the largest individual win on record.
Nick Martinez, manager of Bottle Liquor and Deli, said the next largest wins sold at the store were about $20,000.
“We’ve sold some nice winners, but we’ve never sold the (Mega) millionaire before,” said Martinez, who returned to work from a vacation Saturday to hear the news from the store’s owner.
Bottle Liquor and Deli will receive $665,000 for selling the ticket.
As of Saturday, no one had stepped forward to claim the prize, Traverso said. When the winner does, he said, he or she can choose between a $92.4 million lump sum and 26 annual payments.
The winner of the jackpot has one year to claim the prize, Traverso said, “but very rarely do we have a jackpot winner (of a prize) this size wait more than a week.”
