Motorists are urged to use extra caution when Paso Robles students return to school on Monday.
Paso Robles Police Department officers will be watching for various violations in and around school zones to ensure the safety of students as they travel to and from school and also to reduce traffic congestion.
Parents are encouraged to help by teaching youth to cross roadways at a corner, preferably at the crossing guard locations, police said, and not mid-block or from between parked vehicles.
Never miss a local story.
Police will be looking for people:
• not wearing a seat belt;
• violating the rules that apply when school bus lights are flashing;
• holding a cell phone while driving;
• disobeying parking laws; and
• not following bicycling laws.
Depending upon the severity of the traffic violation, officers may issue warnings or citations, police said.
