A procession of Fire Chief John Callahan’s hearse and two fire engines, one from San Luis Obispo and other from the Los Angeles City Fire Department will now start at 8 a.m. Friday and travel the following route:
From Reis Family Mortuary down Nipomo Street to Marsh Street to Osos Street to Higuera Street, to Chorro Street past the Old Mission Church to Palm Street, past City Hall to Santa Rosa Street and then up to Monterey Street to Grand Avenue.
Then Chief Callahan’s casket will be transferred to a horse-drawn 1906 Seagrave Chemical Wagon used by San Luis Obispo City Firefighters in the early 1900s. The procession will continue up Grand Avenue to the Performing Arts Center, where the memorial will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.
The following San Luis Obispo city offices will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in observance of the memorial service:
