Correction: An earlier version of this story misspelled the name of Annie's former owner, Chuck Hoage.
The family that adopted Annie the dog from the county animal shelter remains adamant about not giving her back to the Nipomo man who originally owned her, lost her, and has since been trying to get reunited with her, a county official said Friday.
County counsel Warren Jensen said that his office continues to work toward a resolution involving Chuck Hoage, who owned Annie for years before she bolted from him one day in June after a gunshot startled her.
She ended up at the county animal shelter, and staff there placed her with new owners while Hoage was trying to find her.

He later learned about the adoption and has been trying since to get the Australian shepherd back.
Jensen said county officials have several options they can pursue, but would not specify what those might be. County Supervisor Adam Hill said Thursday that one idea would be to return Annie to Hoage and buy the adoptive family a puppy.
