The county Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of an 18-year-old man who recently graduated from Arroyo Grande High School.
Dustin Fritz was pronounced dead by paramedics at 9 a.m. on Sunday at a residence in the 1200 block of Shannon Lane in rural Arroyo Grande, said department spokesman Rob Bryn.
Sheriff’s investigators have “information that leads them to believe that alcohol may have played a role” in Fritz’s death, he said.
However, Bryn said, it does not appear that Fritz was given alcohol at the home. Investigators are awaiting toxicology results, which are expected in two to three weeks, he said.

Fritz’s mother, Maxine Fritz, declined to comment on Thursday.
“I’d appreciate if you would respect our privacy during this time period,” she said when reached by cell phone.
According to an obituary notice, Fritz moved to Arroyo Grande in 2003 and had planned to attend classes at Cuesta College this fall.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande.
