Pismo Beach police on Wednesday arrested three people on suspicion of prostitution-related crimes after officers conducted a sting at local massage parlors to determine whether any prostitution was occurring.
Investigators determined that the China Massage Parlor in the 1300 block of Price Street was conducting illegal prostitution activity, according to Pismo Beach Sgt. Tom Portz.
Yang Xiao, 45, of Pismo Beach, was arrested on suspicion of prostitution. Dexia Li, 50, of Pismo Beach, was cited and released at the scene for allegedly supervising a house of prostitution.
Police also arrested Lan Da Chong, 44, of Korea, on suspicion of prostitution at Motel 6 after viewing an advertisement on Craigslist for massage in Pismo Beach, according to Portz.
Xiao and Chong were booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail; they were not listed as being in custody on Thursday, according to the sheriff’s department website.
Police investigators, with the assistance of investigators from the county’s District Attorney’s Office, from Grover Beach police and from the county’s Auto Theft Task Force, posed as customers with advertised massage practitioners to see if prostitution was taking place.
Portz said future stings and compliance checks are being planned for the Five Cities area. Tips and information can be given anonymously at http://www.slotips.org or by calling 549-7867.
