The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County recently finished fumigating the Octagon Barn for termites.
The fumigation tent was up for two days at the structure south of San Luis Obispo. It was the latest in a series of steps the conservancy is taking to make the distinctive, century-old barn structurally ready to be used as a museum and meeting center, said Pete Jenny, one of the conservancy’s directors.
Beyond the barn renovation, the Land Conservancy is seeking support to transform the grounds around the barn so that the site will become a community center where films, plays, festivals, dances, concerts and fundraisers can be held. In the foreground is a mailbox shaped like the barn.
