New merge lanes on Highway 101 in Pismo Beach and Arroyo Grande are now open, Caltrans officials said Wednesday.
The new lanes are located on northbound Highway 101 from Oak Park Boulevard to Fourth Street and from Bello Street to Mattie Road. A third auxiliary lane is located on southbound Highway 101 from Halcyon Road to Grand Avenue.
Caltrans District 5 Director Rich Krumholz said the new lanes will provide safer access to Highway 101 along a busy corridor in the Five Cities area.
The $6 million project was completed by Livermore-based RGW Construction Inc.
