About 81 acres of private Templeton land was donated to San Luis Obispo County, marking it one of the largest property contributions officials say the county has ever received.
The plot of land — to be named the Liz Duveneck Memorial Park — is off Vaquero Road in northeast Templeton.
Hiking trails, pathways, benches, informational signs and gardens are among the uses allowed for it, officials said, as laid out by the late Barney and Liz Duveneck. Other development isn't allowed.
A dedication ceremony on the land is planned for 5:30 p.m. today to honor the donors, whom locals remember as avid youth and community supporters.
