Jean Burns Slater has been selected as the interim superintendent of schools for the Templeton Unified School District for the 2010-2011 school year.
Slater will start on July 1 and will serve as interim superintendent while the district searches for a permanent replacement for Deborah Bowers, who announced her resignation in May. Bower's last day will be June 30.
Slater retired in 2006 after serving for three and a half years as superintendent of the San Benito Union High School District in Hollister.
Previously, she had served as associate superintendent for secondary education in the San Rafael City School District in Marin County, and before that in the San Luis Coastal Unified School District for 24 years as a principal, assistant principal and teacher.
Never miss a local story.
Slater has a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University, a master’s degree from Cal Poly and a doctorate from the University of Southern California.
