Smoke will be visible on Saturday in the North County as Cal Fire conducts a series of live fire training scenarios in an abandoned residential structure near Nacimiento Lake Drive.
The training activity, set for 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., will take place in a controlled environment located on privately owned land off Nacimiento Lake Drive several miles north of Interlake Road, according to CalFire.
Firefighters will train on techniques and procedures for aggressively fighting residential structure fires within a rural setting, officials said.
Safety will be top-of-mind during the training, officials said.
Never miss a local story.
Cal Fire, the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District and the landowner will be present during the exercise.
County officials advise the public to limit outdoor activities if they smell smoke. -Tonya Strickland
