A wind advisory will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday as a storm is expected to bring rain to San Luis Obispo County, according to the National Weather Service.
An advisory means that winds of 35 mph or greater are expected.
Gusty winds are expected to increase during the morning hours and peak Sunday afternoon and evening, according to the Weather Service.
Winds are expected to die down late Sunday evening.
Forecasters expect southerly winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. Isolated gusts up to 50 mph are possible in the foothill areas such as Cuesta Pass and Hearst Castle, according to the Weather Service.
The agency warns that drivers of high-profile vehicles such as trucks or those towing trailers should drive carefully along Highways 1 and 101 because of the high winds expected.
