The San Luis Obispo Planning Commission is recommending that the Garden Street Terraces project be approved and that the City Council certify the final environmental impact report.
On Wednesday the planning commission approved a project consistent with city staff’s recommendation that will decrease the size of the overall project and include no additional public parking spaces.
Garden Street Terraces is proposed to include a 212,607-square foot, five-story, mixed-use structure consisting of a 95-room hotel and restaurant, commercial retail space including a neighborhood market, and 34 residential condominiums on approximately 1.11 acres. The site occupies the block bounded by Broad Street, Garden Alley, Garden Street, and Marsh Street.
The commission is also recommending that the Downtown Brewing Company, the Smith Building and the Laird building on Garden Street and San Luis Traditions on Marsh Street be rehabilitated and brought to federal guidelines for treatment of historic properties.
