An Arroyo Grande man has pleaded no contest to felony drug charges, according to the District Attorney’s Office
Christopher Layng, 32, was accused of possessing methamphetamine and cultivating marijuana. He was arrested Dec. 5 after an investigation of an alleged burglary ring.
Other charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime were dropped.
A no-contest plea is similar to a guilty plea and results in a conviction.
Layng’s sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 12.
Layng and two other men – 32-year-old Aaron Kirby of Arroyo Grande and 29-year-old Michael Wheeler of Grover Beach – were arrested after an investigation that turned up more than 800 stolen items, including more than 35 guns and $80,000 worth of meth.
Wheeler pleaded not guilty today to felony charges of first-degree residential burglary, receiving stolen property and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Kirby’s arraignment for theft and drug charges is scheduled for Dec. 24.
