The Atascadero City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to rename two prominent areas of Stadium Park to honor longtime community advocate Marjorie Mackey.
The main trail leading into the park and the bowl area will be named after Mackey to honor her memory and contributions to the community.
Mackey, who died May 22 at 88, was a former councilwoman and an outspoken advocate for Atascadero's rural ambiance. She dedicated almost 50 years of community service to Atascadero in various ways.
Two signs will be placed at each location in Stadium Park to honor Mackey. The signs, which could cost up to $1,200, will be paid for with community donations.
Never miss a local story.
