Morro Bay firefighters extinguished a fire in a wooded area next to Lila Keiser Park on Monday morning, limiting it to about an eighth of an acre, according to the fire department.
Firefighters responded to a call about the fire at 6:10 a.m. and had the blaze controlled within 20 minutes, although the park was closed until about 9 a.m. fire Capt. George Rees said.
The fire was determined to be caused by human activity, he said.
“It was near an encampment in the trees so was most likely caused by whoever was living there, but our fire investigator is still determining the cause,” he said.
