Several road repair projects have been planned for Los Osos in coming weeks, following fixes that already have included removing and replacing failed pavement, as well as reconstruction of curbs, ramps, gutters, road shoulders and other infrastructure.
Delays are expected to be up to 20 minutes during major operations, and motorists are advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly and consider alternative routes.
CalPortland Construction is conducting the work; the county awarded the company a nearly $2 million contract. The work began June 15 and will finish in late September.
The projects in coming weeks will include the following:
- Week of Aug. 17-Aug. 21: Replacing old pavement along Los Osos Valley Road from Pine Avenue to Ninth Street; placing new pavement on Los Osos Valley Road from Rodman Drive to Doris Avenue; removing failed pavement on Bay Oaks Drive.
Traffic detours will include one-way controls with flaggers and pilot cars as required for each stage of work.
Hours of lane closures will be weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Los Osos Valley Road and Pecho Valley Road, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on other roads.
To minimize the public disruption, the commercial area of Los Osos Valley Road from South Bay Boulevard to Bush Street may be paved at night.
