Highway 41 was closed east of Atascadero for three hours Saturday evening after a car lost control and hit a power pole.
Atascadero resident Jacob Helgren, 25, was driving on Highway 41 near Kingsbury Road at about 4:10 p.m. Saturday when he drove off the road and rolled the car, hitting a mailbox and then the power pole, according to CHP Sgt. Tim Neumann.
The Buick Park Avenue landed on its roof. The preliminary investigation shows that the accident was caused by Helgren driving at an unsafe speed, Neumann said.
The road was closed until 7:20 p.m. as PG&E worked to fix the low-hanging power lines.
