Cal Poly named ‘Best in the West’ by U.S. News for 24th straight year
Once again, Cal Poly has been named the best public, master’s level university in the West by U.S. News & World Report.
Cal Poly took the honor for the 24th consecutive year, as part of the magazine’s annual America’s Best Colleges guidebook.
The 2017 guidebook also ranked Cal Poly in a tie with St. Mary’s College for ninth overall in the West for regional universities that offer a “full range of undergraduate and master’s level programs but few, if any, doctoral programs.” The category includes 124 public and private colleges in 15 states.
The universities that ranked ahead of Cal Poly included: Trinity University, Santa Clara University, Loyola Marymount University, Gonzaga University, Mills College, Chapman University, University of Portland and Seattle University.
Cal Poly’s College of Engineering moved up two spots to No. 5 on the list of best master’s/bachelor’s engineering program in the nation. Its engineering program earned the best master’s/bachelor’s program in the U.S., the civil engineering program ranked third, electrical engineering fourth, and mechanical engineering fifth.
The Orfalea College of Business was the best undergraduate business program for the second straight year.
