Nipomo flower market is first of its kind in SLO County
After more than 20 years in the county, Skyline Growers has opened its first flower market in Nipomo, selling locally grown flowers to Central Coast customers.
The 800-square-foot Nipomo Flower Market, owned by Joe Goldberg, is the first of its kind in the county, sales representative Jessica Bewley said.
“Our flower market allows customers to shop a variety of fresh flowers at great prices without traveling,” she said, noting that other similar flower markets are located farther away in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Bewley said unlike other flower markets, the Nipomo shop requires no membership to purchase flowers. The business will also take special orders for events.
The market offers locals the chance to stop and pick up any of the types of flowers grown in the business’ local nurseries. Most of the products are grown on the company’s 100 acres in Nipomo, as well as at their Oxnard, Camarillo and Guadalupe sites. The company also grows and sells flowers in Washington state.
Prices for the flowers depend on the season and availability. Bewley said some of the types of flowers the business is known for are lilies, dahlias and roses.
Bewley declined to disclose the company’s investment in opening the market.
The market is located at 2425 Bonita School Road, Nipomo. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturdays.
