The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center recently added two members to its board of directors: Jill Anderson of Shell Beach and Maryellen Simkins of Los Osos.
Anderson founded the Pacific Repertory Opera — now Opera SLO — in 1985 and led the opera for 23 years, producing more than 35 successful operas, according to a news release. She was also co-founder and co-artistic director of the Canzona Women's Ensemble, a 28-voice choral group now in its fifth season.
Simkins, who worked closely with the San Luis Obispo Little Theatre, stepped in temporarily as interim executive director for the SLO Symphony in early 2014 and served on the board of directors for PCPA. She also led the search for the Foundation for the Performing Arts Center’s current executive director, Heather Cochrane.
The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center was established in 1986.
