International cosmetics chain LUSH will open a store in downtown San Luis Obispo before May, according to a company spokeswoman.
LUSH is a cosmetics store that sells fresh, handmade products, much of it unpackaged and displayed like one would find fruit in the grocery store. Its products are vegetarian, not tested on animals, 85 percent vegan, and 40 percent preservative-free, according to the company’s website.
“We wanted to be part of the happiest town in California!” said Alyssa Gates, LUSH cosmetics director of U.S. real estate, in a news release.
The San Luis Obispo location, at 1070 Court St., will be the company’s 31st store in California and will employ 20 people.
LUSH has 200 locations across North America and more than 900 worldwide, according to the release.
