The former interim dean of Cal Poly’s Orfalea College of Business has been appointed the interim executive director of the Cal Poly Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
Doug Cerf was named to the position overseeing the center that administers a wide range of programs and activities to stimulate entrepreneurial ventures at Cal Poly.
One of the center’s endeavors is the Hothouse program that offers tools, funding and office space for students to launch their own businesses.
Cerf, a former accounting professor with expertise in financial management, will work closely with Jonathan York, faculty director and co-founder of CIE to set a financial vision and a plan for student spaces on and off campus. Cerf will also look for ways to form multidisciplinary collaborations involving the CIE.
