Two businesses in Paso Robles are trading places: Farm Supply Co. is moving to 2450 Ramada Drive, currently the home of AJ Contractor’s Supply, which, in turn, will fill Farm Supply’s location at 1108 Paso Robles St.
The switch is taking place this weekend, with both businesses reopening Sunday.
AJ Contractor’s Supply has felt the economic impact of a declining construction industry, and it will benefit from buying Farm Supply’s smaller space, said co-owner George Crosier. AJ’s new location on Paso Robles Street will be 6,000 square feet.
Farm Supply, in return, is buying AJ’s 5.5-acre Ramada Drive location, with a 10,000-square-foot showroom and 5,000-square-foot warehouse. Farm Supply will build an additional 5,000-square-foot warehouse for agricultural products at the new location, said Chief Financial Officer Karen Ellsworth.
AJ’s will retain its eight employees in the move. Crosier declined to disclose sales prices for the properties.
AJ Contractor’s supply, also co-owned by Led Fortini, opened in 1986 on Riverside Drive in Paso Robles and moved to Ramada Drive in 2005.
Farm Supply is an agricultural cooperative owned by more than 2,300 shareholders and led by a nine-member board. It was founded in 1950 and also has locations in San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Arroyo Grande and Buellton.
