The Horse Man’s Club at the Santa Maria Fairpark for satellite wagering on horse races has announced it is closing on Sept. 15.
The satellite wagering management firm of Scotwinc/Notwinc, which has been managing the club for the past few months, plans to announce a new Santa Maria location in the near future, according to a Fairpark news release.
The Horse Man’s Club has been offering satellite wagering for more than 20 years, according to the Fairpark.
The news release blames the closure on “the industry (seeing) a real ‘slow down’ with the current economy and Internet availability.”

Fairpark CEO Dennis Pearson said that the vacated facility will be remodeled to make it available for events in 2012.
