Reconstruction of the arson-damaged Foothill Square property in San Luis Obispo is nearly complete, but only one of the two longtime restaurants burned out in the March 2010 blaze will return.
The $1.5 million project at the complex that housed Kona’s Deli and Cabo San Luis is on schedule and expected to be complete by mid-August, property manager Dan Rutledge said.
Kona’s, owned by Paula Boggs and husband Eric, will return to its original 1,400-square-foot spot and is expected to open in early September.
Cabo San Luis, however, will not return to its 2,900-square-foot location.
Never miss a local story.
Dan Harper, who owned the restaurant, said he is still considering the option of reopening at a different location but did not mention specifics.
Rutledge said discussions are ongoing with a couple of prospective restaurants who might be interested in taking the former Cabo San Luis spot.
