The Grover Beach City Council tonight will consider buying property within the city limits that could go toward an affordable housing project.
The Council is considering authorizing the purchase of property at 506 Longbranch Ave. in Grover Beach for $419,500 – money that would come from the city’s redevelopment agency. The city is working toward entering into an agreement with a developer to build four units on the site, said Grover Beach’s City Manager Bob Perrault.
Perrault said that 20 percent of the city’s redevelopment funds must be spent toward housing-related programs. The Council allocated up to $450,000 for the purchase of the property, Perrault said. The city has an additional $350,000 in federal funds to use towards the project.
The meeting regarding the potential purchase will immediately follow the city council meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the city’s Council Chambers at 154 S. Eighth St. in Grover Beach.
