A fire has broken out at the southern base of the Cuesta Grade, which is reportedly causing delays for southbound traffic.
The fire is near the red house just off the roadway, according to the CHP Web site. Poor visibility was being reported, and CHP officers were slowing traffic. Signs were also being posted to alert drivers to the delays.
Caltrans was called out to close one lane of traffic.
The fire was first reported at 12:51 p.m. Fire officials said over the emergency scanner that 3 to 4 acres had burned.
A tanker plane was dropping retardant at 1:20 p.m.
