A toddler received only minor injuries after the Ford Explorer he was playing in rolled down a steep driveway and flipped over.
Nathon Roberts, who is almost 2, was playing in the vehicle in a private driveway in San Miguel around 5:15 p.m. Sunday, according to the CHP. His grandmother was cleaning a barn nearby.
The keys were left in the vehicle, according to the CHP, and Nathon was able to turn the ignition forward and shift the automatic transmission into neutral.
The Explorer then rolled backwards down a steep driveway, hit a large bush, skidded sideways down a steep embankment and rolled onto its roof. Nathon was fully ejected from the SUV when it rolled, and landed on the ground, according to the CHP.
The toddler, who lives in Paso Robles, was taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital, treated for minor facial lacerations, and released.
