Fifth District Supervisor candidate Jim Patterson is hosting an open house and reception at his new campaign headquarters, 7425 El Camino Real in Atascadero’s Plaza del Pueblo Shopping Center, Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
"Our campaign is beginning to kick into gear,” Patterson said. "We’re organizing our volunteers to begin precinct walking, phone banks, and all the other necessary campaign activities to win.”
Patterson, currently chairman of the Board of Supervisors, became Fifth District Supervisor after upsetting incumbent Mike Ryan in 2004.
He is running against Debbie Arnold, a Pozo rancher who once owned a child care business. Arnold also was legislative assistant to Ryan and worked for Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee (R-San Luis Obispo).
Patterson said he will continue to work on “enforcing the fiscal discipline necessary to balancing the county’s budget, conserve and protect our precious water supply, meet the need for affordable housing, and ensure that our open spaces and wild places are protected, while assuring that the growth that occurs does so intelligently to avoid sprawl."
