Santa Paws will make an appearance from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Heilmann Dog Park, 1100 El Bordo Ave. in Atascadero. For a $10 donation, your pets can take a picture with Santa Paws. Event proceeds go to maintenance and enhancement of the dog park. Drawings for prizes, holiday treats, coffee and cider. Rain cancels event. For more information, call 466-3615.
Black Friday deal for black-coated animals

Woods Humane Society is waiving adoption fees on all black-coated animals from Nov. 27 to Nov. 29. In a shelter, black-coated animals are often passed over for many reasons, making them about half as likely to be adopted as cats and dogs of other colors. All adoptable animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Visit www.woodshumane.org to view available animals or visit the shelter any day from noon to 6 p.m. at 875 Oklahoma Ave. in San Luis Obispo.
Pets for Vets
Woods Humane Society has launched a new Pets for Vets adoption program. The program waives adoption fees for any active military, their families and veterans. The program is ongoing. Adopt a black beauty in November
November is black cat adoption month at the Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) in Cambria. All black cats and kittens are available for a special adoption fee of $5. Black cats are often overlooked at shelters and have the lowest rate of adoptions of all cats. Come to HART to meet some wonderful black cats and kittens that are waiting for their forever homes. Tuxedo cats (black with white) are included in the special. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, microchip, flea treatment and a follow-up vet examination. Adopt a cat in SLO, volunteers needed to trap feral cats
The Feline Network still has little kittens as well as teenage and older cats available for adoption. Adoptions are held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday at Petco in the Madonna Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo. All kittens and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for leukemia and FIV. The adoption fee is $60.
