San Luis Obispo County Animal Services Shelter volunteer Ellen Perryess features shelter dog Bo.
Dogs have the wisdom not to worry about age, physical disability or status — a senior three-legged Mastiff/Maltese mix appreciates life just as much as a papered pup.
Take Bo, an 8-year-old Australian shepherd mix who simply isn’t aware he’s middle aged. He loves life and is always ready to celebrate the moment with people and dogs alike.
Bo delights in going for walks, loves to play ball and enjoys being with people; his tail wags just for the pleasure of being alive.
Never miss a local story.
Like many middle-aged creatures, Bo finds bustling, loud noisy places not to his liking, so shelter life is unsettling. Thankfully, time with people is a welcome respite. He especially likes people closer to his age; Bo finds toddlers tiresome but delights in respectful kids or adults who are kids at heart.
Bo also has a few lumps, which the veterinarian isn’t worried about — just unrequested birthday gifts. To make up for these, Bo’s ready to share his positive attitude and dog life-skills with you.
Bo — an experienced forever-puppy — is waiting to come home with you. For more information about Bo, ID No. A204376, call the volunteer line at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Shelter at 781-4413 or visit http://www.sloanimalservices.com.
The Animal Services shelter is at 885 Oklahoma Ave., off Highway 1 in San Luis Obispo.
The adoption fee is $80 for cats and $105 for dogs, plus a $25 county license fee for dogs if the adopters are San Luis Obispo County residents.
