San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter volunteer Ellen Perryess highlights overlooked Cocoa. Here’s what Ellen has to say:
Cocoa’s a nice, medium-sized, russet-colored gal who’s smart and attentive; she’s consistently overlooked because she doesn’t stand out. Sadly, because of her long stay at the county Animal Services shelter, she’s not sure whether a person will ever love her again.
As people pass Cocoa’s kennel, she quietly waits for someone to notice her. She’s always hopeful, and if she thinks you might take her for a walk, she’ll bark in full support of the idea.
Once outside, Cocoa’s past leash-training becomes evident, as she walks on a loose leash and looks to you for direction. And though she’s a bit of a wallflower and is shy meeting new people, it only takes a few dog treats to win Cocoa’s attention; soon, she’s sitting on command and ready to learn more skills.
Never miss a local story.
Cocoa’s in her element playing fetch or socializing with other dogs. She also rides well in a car and has happily lived with other dogs and children of all ages.
Because of her love of other dogs and playing chase, Cocoa would be best in a cat-free home with a secure — non-chain link-fenced — yard.
Cocoa will make a devoted family member. She’s perfectly suited for someone looking for a four-legged playmate for the current family dog.
Both Cocoa and past Pet Tales dog Val are nice gals who long to find their lovematch.
Come to the shelter; volunteers are waiting to show you what makes these two girls special.
