This week, San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter volunteer Ellen Perryess features foster pup Buster, who, along with other shelter dogs, is looking for a forever home. Here’s what Ellen has to say about Buster:
Somehow you never expect puppies to be homeless, yet this summer puppies continue to take up kennel space at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter. The question on everyone’s mind — will there be enough adopters?
Buster must be wondering this, too. He was born at the shelter and has spent most of his 3-month life in a kennel. Buster has a fox-red coat, a jaunty curling tail and intelligent eyes. Though he mostly looks like a Labrador mix, he’s actually a people-pleasing pit bull-Shar-Pei who likes to learn.
Buster is in a foster home where he loves playing in the yard, going for walks and learning house manners. He’s doing well with the commands “sit,” “wait,” “drop it” and “off.”
Never miss a local story.
He’s also getting the hang of walking on a loose leash and being patient if his person decides to stop and talk with someone along the way.

Buster’s a lively, earnest, boy who, with the help of a caring person, will learn to become a great canine pal.
