I received two emails this week requesting help getting the word out about a couple of pets that need to find good homes. Because column space is limited, I only run adoption information about pets at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter.
One of the pets is George, a big kitty with a big appetite who needs a forever family who will help him lose some pounds.
I also received an email from the Central Coast Border Collie and Herding Dog Rescue in Paso Robles asking to help three-legged Jeb find a forever home. I will post Jeb’s story and some photos on the Pet Tales Facebook page at http://www.Facebook.com/SLOPetTales.
Back to George: Here’s what county animal shelter volunteer Ellen Perryess says about him:
“George is a long-haired gray and white cat of almost unimaginable proportion. He is so large he’s too big for the cat kennels at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter.
“George is 5 years old and neutered, and he enjoys people almost as much as he loves food. He’ll purr contentedly when petted and will sit up for treats. George is a can-do cat who has been known to push small dogs from their food dishes and finish the meal himself.
“George is so chubby he can’t properly groom himself, and so he has been shaved to make the job more manageable. According to the veterinarian, George has no health problems, just a disproportionate appetite.
“Needless to say, George is looking for a loving, calorie-counting adopter to help him regain his proper dimensions.”
