Doggie pool party
Dog Splash Days at Templeton Community Park will be Friday through Sunday. Doggie swim times will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday for little or senior dogs, 2 to 5 p.m. Friday for all dogs and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for all dogs. Admission is $20 per dog through event day. Proceeds benefit Vineyard Dog Park in Templeton. Owner must bring paper proof of current rabies vaccination. Equine parade awards
California Central Coast Draft Horse Riders and Friends Troupe will sponsor this year’s Arroyo Grande Valley Harvest Festival’s equine entry awards. A stall plaque will be awarded to the best entry in each of the five equine categories: working western, junior equestrian, costume class, animal-driven vehicle and posse. The parade is at 10 a.m. Sept. 28 in downtown Arroyo Grande. Entry deadline is Sept. 13. For an application, visit www.agharvestfestival.com. An introduction class to horse and pony driving will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 28. There will be demonstrations with horses, ponies and minis. Bring a lunch. Bring harness and carts, no horses. Adopt a cat in SLO
The Feline Network holds cat and kitten adoptions from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday at the Petco in the Madonna Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo. Cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested and vaccinated. Adoption fee is $60 for one or $80 for two. Free vet exam included.
