‘Charles Dickens wrote, ‘What greater gift than the love of a cat?’ So, what better time to add love to your life then when our county shelter is overflowing with kittens?
“Andy and Sandy exemplify the delightful variety of kittens at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter. Andy’s a fun-loving kitten who enjoys playing with cats and people alike. Sandy, on the other paw, is a thoughtful flame-point Siamese who ponders before leaping. See Sandy and Andy playing in a video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8eKqiEg9Fs.
“This Saturday, Andy and Sandy, plus myriad other kittens and cats, will be on the front lawn of the SLO County Animal Services shelter from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. As an additional adoption incentive, all fe line adoption fees will be half off.
“Loving homes are urgently needed because of the high volume of charming kittens coming to the shelter, primarily because many county residents still don’t spay and neuter their pets.
Never miss a local story.
“All shelter cats are already altered, microchipped, come with a cardboard carrier, are FIV/FLVP tested and have their initial shots, or come with vouchers for their shots and testing. With the kittens already altered, the chance of them developing some forms of cancer is nil and they can never create unwanted litters.
“According to Garrison Keillor, ‘Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a purpose.’ More importantly, cats teach us that love is a gift to be shared.”
