‘Homeless dogs and cats are what first come to mind when people think of county animal shelters. And well they should. The San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter is full to the brim with wonderful dogs, cats and kittens.
“In addition to all the felines and canines, the shelter is currently ark-like with an array of different types of pets looking for homes.
“Vidal the guinea pig isn’t having a bad hair day; it’s just how he is. So if you’re looking for a friend to encourage you to be yourself, Vidal’s your pet.
“If Vidal’s not a match for you, we have more beautiful bunnies; Butch the rooster; Chilly, a 10-year-old chinchilla; several unnamed guinea pigs; and a bevy of cute hamsters who’d all like a hamster wheel to call their own.
“Please come to the shelter and meet all the shelter pets. You can also find out more by checking the shelter website — sloanimal services.com — or calling 781-4413. “All these little critters are $5 each — rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, chickens and roosters. If you don’t have a carrier, you can purchase a cardboard carrier at the shelter for $3. Improve your life, and that of a homeless pet, and adopt a new family member today.”
